Attractions in SD

Just an FYI for those of you who don't know, the Japanese Friendship Garden is inside Balboa Park, which is filled with smaller cultural parks and is also where the zoo is. It is gorgeous!
We were engaged in Encinitas, just north of SD, and have some fave spots there==Mosey's, a great vegetarian restaurant with amazing black bean/avocado/plantain burritos and the BEST acai bowls in the country, I dare say. What's an acai bowl? Acai is native to Brazil and is (just like Gabe!) considered a superfood. This little berry from a palm tree is packed with antioxidants and is super yummy. For the bowl, the fruit is frozen/pureed and topped with chopped banana, almonds, coconut, granola and honey. I can 't wait to get back there and have one! We have pics from the engagement enjoying our acai bowls, so we will definitely be getting the "just married" acai bowl enjoyment pics. Woohoo!!
We got engaged just up from Mosey's at the Self Realization Fellowship Hermitage and Meditation Gardens, overlooking the Pacific. This is the first establishment in the States of Paramahansana Yogananda (Autobiograpy of a Yogi), who I consider to be my guru even though he's dead (as many devotees to SRF do). He is known to have introduced yoga to west, with the intention of giving westerners a way to connect with the Creator and deepen their spirituality, no matter what their religion. Gabe "coincidentally" spent some time at the Gardens in mediation while trying to get some clarity about his life's path and so he chose this place to propose since it was so special to both of us on the spiritual level. We hope you'll venture up to Encinitas and check it out. There is beach access near there as well.
Coronado Island is beautiful, and while you're in SD, you should spend some time there. La Jolla (La Hoya, for you non-spanish speakers) Beach is also wonderful, and I must say, my favorite beach. There is lots of shopping and great eateries right around there, which is a plus. If you're bringing kids, take them to La Jolla for sure. You'll probably spy some seals and some really cool tide pool life. :)

Welcome

Thanks for visiting our wedding blog! We've decided to be unconventional yet again and connect with our guests via the web. We're not sending formal invitations (which will just be thrown away), only Evites and a nice little Wedding Details card via postal mail for guests to have in-hand when coming out to San Diego.
Our main focus, besides a ceremony that reflects our spiritual beliefs and our love for each other, are swanky parties afterward and great pictures to look back on. That said, expensive formal invitations seem like a waste of paper and money when we can use the web for free!
